Every activeLife Trainer comes equipped with a fully Android and Apple iOS compatible smart sensor operating under the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) standard. This makes it compatible with many fitness wristbands and any Android or Apple smartphone or tablet sold in the last few years. The BLE smart sensor implements the international open standard interface for bicycle speed and cadence so users can track their workouts on this under-desk mini elliptical exercise machine using dozens of free exercise apps such as Wahoo Fitness or Cateye Cycling. Such tracking of activeLife Trainer workouts is often key to keeping users actively engaged because, over time, the workout numbers get really impressive! Many activeLife Trainer users “walk” hundreds of miles per year burning tens of thousands extra calories. That’s why the smart sensor in activeLife Trainer  matters … a lot!

Since 2012 numerous studies, including at German research institutes, have tested the effectiveness of our elliptical under-desk exercise machines and have shown that these devices sustainably reduce sedentary time. For details, please see the references to scientific publications below.

Additionally, for the last number of years, we have worked with various stakeholders in developing this, the third generation of elliptical under-desk exercise machines. Among others, we had over 100 international ergonomists from Germany, the US and about 25 other countries try out our machines to give us feedback and suggestions. These have been incorporated into the engineering of this new generation active Life Trainer.

Christoph Leonhard, Ph.D. ABPP 

is professor of clinical psychology specializing in behavioral medicine at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, LA. After five years as an instructor at Harvard Medical School he accepted a professorship in Chicago where he has been researching and developing seated elliptical exercise machines to help sedentary office workers to be active at work. The main aspects of his developments are protected by international patents including in the US, China, and Germany.
